Using a temperature-sensitive fluorescent probe targeted to mitochondria, Pierre Rustin and collaborators measured the temperature of active mitochondria in cultured intact human cells. This work allows to consider the important contribution of mitochondria at the temperature of 37.5 ° C of the human body and the possible effects of a mitochondrial pathology on the regulation of body temperature.
