Décès d'Axel Brennicke

With great sadness we have to inform you that Prof Axel Brennicke, Director of the Institut for Molecular Botanic at Ulm University, passed away on Sunday February 26 evening. He was a passionate researcher, respected colleague and friend, who dedicated his scientific career to plant mitochondria. Under his supervision the first mitochondrial genome of a higher plant was completely sequenced in Arabidopsis thaliana. His main focus has been on RNA editing, among many other aspects of plant mitochondrial gene expression.
Axel was an enthusiastic author, who published countless scientific and also popular scientific articles.
